## More about Evan

**How did you get into software?**

Completely by chance. I was at a career fair looking for teaching jobs and was offered a paid internship to learn web technologies. A few days in, I was hooked. I love the mix of creativity, learning, and complex problem-solving that’s needed as a software engineer.

**What does your desktop/home screen look like?**

Basic unmodified Mac.

**Why are you at Resend?**

I’ve known Zeno for a long time, but reading the public Resend handbook sold me on the company. I love the idea of being at a company that clearly values excellence but has no place for ego. This, combined with the fact that they genuinely want to help their users, made me really want to join!

**Where do you find #inspiration?**

I find inspiration in anything done excellently. This could be a well-presented meal, a musician who has perfected their craft, or a perfectly designed tool that is both durable and functional. It encourages me to strive for excellence in my own work by finding new and creative ways to solve problems.

**If you weren't programming, what would you be doing?**

I’d like to be woodworking or running a hobby farm with a farm shop. Definitely still creating something with my hands.

**Favorite tool?**

Any web browser. The internet is a magical place.

**Favorite hotkey?**

`Cmd+t`

I open way too many browser tabs and never want to close one.

**Favorite place to visit?**

A beautiful trail for running. Two of my favorite spots are the mountains where I grew up in Juneau, Alaska, and the public paths of Oxfordshire in the UK where my wife is from.

**Advice for ambitious software engineers?**

Stay curious and always look for ways to improve. Be creative about finding ways to enjoy what you do. There’s joy in the little things.
