Today, we're excited to announce <Human id="alec-ventura" /> is joining Resend as a Data Engineer!

Alec brings a strong background in software and data engineering. We're thrilled to have him on the team. Here's more about him in his own words.

## More about Alec

**How did you get into software?**

My journey into software began at a very young age. My father was the first CPU seller in my hometown, back when personal computers were XT and 286 models. Because of this, I was fortunate to have access to computers for as long as I can remember. By high school, I knew I wanted to pursue this path, so I chose to study computer science in college. From there, becoming a software engineer—and eventually a data engineer—felt like a natural progression.

**Why are you at Resend?**

I discovered Resend while searching for exciting startup companies. What drew me in was that it's a tech company built by tech people, for tech users—which really raises the quality bar for its products. As a data engineer, I'm especially excited by the scale and the need for real-time processing to ensure trust and safety. That level of challenge is super cool.

**Where do you find #inspiration?**

I find inspiration in people who show kindness to others, whether to humans or animals. I love reading about positive impacts, whether it's a breakthrough in research, an awesome tool, or even a simple idea that improves quality of life, reduces waste, or helps nature. Sometimes it's hard to find these stories, but I believe there is a lot of kindness out there, often from the most unexpected and unknown people. In the end, it's good actions, big or small, that inspire me most.

**If you weren't programming, what would you be doing?**

When I'm not programming, I enjoy planting new trees and observing interesting insects and birds—provided my cats aren't chasing them! If I could scale this up, I'd love to travel the world doing exactly that.

**Favorite tool?**

As a data enthusiast, my favorite tool is probably Apache Spark (technically a framework, but I'll count it!). It can handle massive parallel data processing using distributed, fault-tolerant techniques. It's an incredibly powerful tool.

**Favorite hotkey?**

Cmd+C and Cmd+V. No explanation needed—they're simply the best hotkeys ever.

**Favorite place to visit?**

I haven't traveled as much as I'd like, but I hope to change that. The coolest place I've visited so far is Manaus, Brazil. The cuisine there is unique—I absolutely loved trying the different local fish. Unfortunately, I don't have a photo from the trip, so here's a placeholder:

**Advice for ambitious software engineers?**

Don't hesitate to join a superstar dream team. My biggest periods of growth came from working with exceptional teams where everyone raised the bar. It truly makes all the difference!
